Microlime commenced operations in the year 2000 with the acquisition of the lime producing Unit from Siderúrgica Nacional by Engineer Joaquim Brites Fernandes.

The acquisition formed a part of the privatisation process of some of the industrial units carried out by Siderúrgica Nacional to alleviate the social impact resulting from the closing of the Via Integrada de Producción de Acero. The project obtained the support of the Resider programme and the Portuguese State which granted incentives for the projects resulted from the restructuring of the steel industry.

In 2001 the manufacturing unit of Microlime was modernised and automated.

After some initial challenges caused by the delay in the start-up of the new SN Seixal steel plant, Microlime managed to stabilise sales and consolidate its evolution with an average growth of 36% in this period.

Microlime went through great changes.

At the beginning of the year the industrial production of Dolomitic Lime was introduced besides improving technical alterations which would provide for an increase in production of more than 30%.
Midway through the year, the Spanish firm CALES DE PACHS, SA. entered the capital of Microlime transforming the company into a Inc.

A period of consolidation.

The years 2007 – 2012 were years of growth and with important Environmental investments to minimise any impact on the community, neighbours, and workers.

Expansion of Microlime with the construction of a new factory.

In 2012 a quarry was acquired, and a process of licensing was commenced as there was now access to raw material of excellent quality. Three years later the construction of a new factory was commenced which ended in 2017.

Commencement of the production of quicklime in our new plant in Fátima and the beginning of exports to Europe and the rest of the world.
